Fes History

The oldest of Morocco's imperial cities, Fes was founded in 789 by Idriss I, who was fleeing the Abbasids of Baghdad. He led local Berbers in conquest of the region and established the Kingdom of Morocco, before being poisoned by the Abbasids. In the 9th century, waves of immigrants from Spain (mainly Muslim families fleeing the Catholic Reconquista)

Things to see in Stavanger

AttractionsStavanger CathedralNorway's oldest cathedral is a handsome structure with a pair of slender towers poking high into the sky. Dating from 1125, the bulk of the church is a fine example of the Romanesque style with its heavy arches and dog-tooth decoration, but it also boasts a Gothic choir.
