Dar es Salaam's climate is tropical, which means there is hot weather and high humidity all year round. Humidity peaks in March and April. The wettest months are April and May, when the 'long rains' fall and there's also a fair amount of precipitation in October and November when the 'short rains' visit. As the city has a high proportion of Muslim residents, some restaurants are closed during the day in the month of Ramadan.
