Passports

To enter Uzbekistan, a passport valid for three months beyond the date of arrival is required by all nationals referred to in the chart above.

Visas

As of 01 February 2019, nationals from 45 countries are eligible for visa-free travel for 30 days from the date of entry into Uzbekistan. These countries are: Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the Vatican.

Nationals of France, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and Turkey were granted viola-free access in 2018. Nationals of Germany have visa-free access as of 15 January 2019.

No visas are required for all nationals stated in the chart above if they are in transit and can provide an air ticket showing the next destination and departing Uzbekistan within five days of arrival. Please see the transit section below for more details.

Check if you're eligible for an e-Visa

As of August 2018, citizens from 51 countries can obtain an e-visa to Uzbekistan online easily. These countries are: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, China (including Hong Kong), Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Montenegro, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, and the Vatican. When applying for an e-visa to Uzbekistan, you need to submit your personal details, select your intended travel dates, upload a photograph which must have a white background showing your uncovered head and upper shoulders, upload a digital copy of your passport and pay US$20 with a Visa or MasterCard.

Normal tourist visa

If you are from a country not listed above, you need to apply in person at a consulate near you. Often, you're required to provide a letter of invitation from a tour company in Uzbekistan and must arrange a visa support letter. Please note that the tour company may need to submit the support letter directly to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tashkent before the visa can be approved. Also, a personal interview may be required before a visa can be issued. The good news is, if you're transiting through Uzbekistan for less than five days, you may not require a visa. Please see the transit section below and check if you are from one of the 101 countries which can enjoy a stay of up to five days during each transit.

Validity

An e-visa is valid for a period of stay of up to 30 days with a single entry. And you must visit Uzbekistan within 90 days from the date of issue.

Transit

As of August 2018, citizens from 101 countries can visit Uzbekistan without a visa if they are transiting and can provide an air ticket showing the next destination. The only requirement is transit passengers must depart Uzbekistan within five days of arrival.

These countries are: Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Bhutan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China (including Hong Kong), Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, France, Gabon, Germany, Greece, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Kuwait, Latvia, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Nauru, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Palau, Panama, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Seychelles, Slovakia, Slovenia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Uruguay, the Vatican, Venezuela and Vietnam.

Application to

If you're from a country that is not listed in the e-visa section above, visit your nearest embassy or consulate to apply for a visa.

Working days

Allow two working days for an e-visa processing. If you apply in person, please allow 10 working days but be aware that visa processing time entirely depends upon the embassy. An express service may be available for an additional fee.

Sufficient Funds

This is not usually required but note that you cannot take more foreign currency out of the country than the amount you declared when you entered the country.

Entry Documents

Business visitors must get a letter from an Uzbek business partner. You should carry a doctor’s prescription if you intend to travel with prescription medicine and declare the items on your customs declaration form.

Extension of stay

It is sometimes possible to get a one-time Uzbek visa extension in Uzbekistan, at the OVIR (Department of Foreign Travel and Exit) office in Tashkent.

Entry with children

If children are travelling with a single parent or third party, they must have documentary evidence of relationship to the person travelling with the child and permission for the child's travel from the parent or legal guardian not present.

Entry with pets

Uzbekistan does not quarantine healthy pets if the owner can produce a valid veterinary certificate. Owners can transport up to two dogs or cats or pet birds, except pigeons. Your pet must be vaccinated for rabies no earlier than 30 days and no more than 12 months before the departure.
