Health Care

Medical facilities are on a par with the USA, but can be costly. Medical insurance is recommended and should ideally cover the cost of air ambulance.

Food and Drink

Bottled water is popular with tourists as the local water is salty to taste - although safe to drink. Milk is pasteurised and dairy products are safe for consumption. Local meat, poultry, seafood, fruit and vegetables are generally considered safe to eat.

Other Risks

There have been recent outbreaks of tuberculosis and malaria, so as a precaution many travelers prefer to get these vaccinations in any case. Hepatitis B vaccinations are also sometimes recommended.
