Travelling to Iran by Rail
RAJA Passenger Trains (www.raja.ir) operates passenger services from Tehran to Ankara in conjunction with Turkish Railways. In addition, Golden Eagle Luxury Trains (www.goldeneagleluxurytrains.com) operate bi-annual luxury train tours between Moscow and Tehran.
Driving to Iran
For details of political conditions governing access, contact the embassy. If you plan on driving your own car over the border into Iran, you must obtain a Carnet de Passage by contacting the embassy.
Getting to Iran by boat
The main port was Khorramshahr until its destruction during the war with Iraq. Following reconstruction, the port was reopened to ship traffic in 1992. Imam Khomeini is located in the northwestern edge of the Persian Gulf and near Iraq. The ports of Abbas and Bushehr are to be found in the Persian Gulf and Nowshahr and Bandar-a Anzali on the Caspian Sea.
