Passports

A passport valid for the length of stay in the Falkland Islands is required by all nationals referred to in the chart above.

Visas

Visas are not required by nationals referred to in the chart above. All nationals (including visa-exempt nationals) entering the Falkland Islands are issued with a visitor's permit on entry, initially valid for four weeks.

All land-based international visitors staying in the Falkland Islands must show a return ticket, have pre-booked accommodation and be able to show proof of sufficient funds.

Nationals not referred to in the chart are advised to contact the Home Office in the UK or their nearest British Embassy to check visa requirements for the Falkland Islands.

Cruise passengers do not need a visa, regardless of nationality, unless planning to spend additional time in the Falkland Islands before or after the cruise.

Types and Cost

British embassies charge £115 for receiving, handling and forwarding visa applications for British Overseas Territories.

Extension of stay

If you wish to extend your initial four-week stay, you must apply directly to Customs and Immigration in Stanley.
