Weather in Lima

Situated near the Pacific Ocean, Lima has a mild desert climate with only two seasons: summer and winter.

May to October is considered the winter season when Lima's days are typically engulfed in a hazy covering of coastal mist or fog. The overall effect can be quite grey, but temperatures are still pretty mild. August is often the coldest month with a daily mean of 16°C (61°F), which is still comfortably warm to many people, though the persistent morning drizzle may drive tourists away.

October is a culturally interesting time as Lima celebrates its patron saint, Our Lord of Miracles (Señor de los Milagros). Many devotees come to participate in the annual procession which is one of the biggest in the world.

Lima is lovely from November to April, the summer season, with temperatures fluctuate between 16°C (61°F) and 27°C (81°F). Many visitors are drawn to the summer sunsets. Known as "cielo de brujas" (sky of witches), the evening skies burn with brilliant shades of red and orange.
