Airport news:

Due to the current political and economic climate in Venezuela, many airlines have ceased to operate flights to Caracas Simón Bolívar International Airport. There have been reports of power cuts and sanitation services are not operating regularly. There are also reports that military police - the Bolivarian National Guard - have been extorting travellers.

Information desks are strategically located throughout both terminals, with two desks in the International Terminal (tel: +58 212 303 1527, 1528 or 1580) and two in the National Terminal (tel: +58 212 303 1483 or 1408).

Driving directions:

From central Caracas, head north on Autopista Norte – Sur, following the road towards the city of Maiquetía where it directly passes the airport complex; take the dedicated airport turn-off to reach the terminals. The total drive time from central Caracas to the airport is approximately 30 minutes.

Transfer between terminals:

The two terminals are linked by a pedestrian walkway. A free shuttle bus service also links the terminals.

Public Transport

Public transport road:

Bus: Sittsa buses to Caracas from the National Terminal (tel: +58 212 572 1609; www.sitssa.gob.ve).

Taxi: Several local taxi operators serve the airport including Cooperativa Taxi Explorer Astrala (tel: +58 212 860 8138). Taxis can be pre-booked at the distinctive yellow desks in the arrivals areas of both terminals. For safety reasons, passengers are strongly advised against using unofficial taxis whose drivers tout for business in the terminal.

Terminal facilities

Money:

Bureau de change, ATMs and banking services are available in both terminals.

Food:

Restaurants, fast-food outlets, cafés and bars are located throughout both terminals. This includes sushi and steak restaurants in the National Terminal and a grill restaurant in the International Terminal.

Shopping:

There are a variety of shops in both terminals ranging from bookshops to confectioners, jewellers and designer boutiques. The duty-free shop is located in the International Terminal, near gate 16.

Luggage:

A left-luggage service is available in both terminals. Trolleys can be found throughout the airport. Beware of informal porters who tend to overcharge.

Other:

Other facilities available at Caracas Simón Bolívar International Airport include medical services, available in both terminals, a chapel, and a pharmacy. A massage parlour, several travel agencies and tour operators are also located within the International Terminal.

Conference and business:

There is no full-service business centre at Caracas Simón Bolívar International Airport. However, four meeting rooms (tel: +58 212 303 1631) of varying size are available to passengers.

There are also a number of executive lounges at the airport, including the American Airlines Admiral Club and the United-Iberia Lounge on the second floor of the International Terminal.

Conference facilities are available at the Hotel Eurobuilding Express (tel: +58 212 902 1111; www.eurobuilding.com.ve), opposite the airport, and at the nearby Marriott Venezuela Hotel Playa Grande (tel: +58 212 535 2222; www.marriott.com).

Communication Facilities:

Free Wi-Fi Internet access is available throughout Caracas Simón Bolívar International Airport. Public telephones and postal facilities are also available at the airport.

Disabled facilities:

Caracas Simón Bolívar International Airport is easily accessible to disabled travellers with lifts and ramps available where necessary. Passengers requiring wheelchairs, or any additional assistance, should contact their airline in advance. Disabled parking is available in both the short- and long-term car parks.

Car parking:

Short- and long-term car parking facilities are located at the National Terminal, with a further long-term car park at the International Terminal. Both long-term car parks are open 24 hours a day, while the short-term area is open from 0430 to 2330.

Car hire companies represented at Caracas Simón Bolívar International Airport include Avis, Budget and Hertz. Car hire desks are located in both terminals.
