Driving directions:

Salzburg Airport has its own motorway connection on the junction of the A1 and A10, to the west of the city centre. From the city centre, head west on the B1 (Innsbrucker Bundesstrasse), which leads to the airport.

Coming from the west, travellers should take the Salzburg West A1 exit and then take the airport exit shortly thereafter.

Arriving from the south, it's best to follow the A10, turn onto the A1, and then choose the airport exit.

From the north, head southwest on the A1 and take the airport exit.

Public Transport

Public transport road:

Bus: Public buses run regularly between Salzburg Airport and various destinations in the city; buses 2 and 27 run every 10/20 minutes between Salzburg's main railway station and the airport; bus 10 runs every 10 minutes between the city centre and airport (journey time: 15 minutes; fare: €2.30). These services are operated by Obus SLB (tel: +43 662 88840; www.salzburg-ag.at).

Taxi:A number of taxis, shuttle and ski bus services operate from the rank in front of the terminals, including Taxi Erlbacher (tel: +43 3687 81915; www.taxi-erlbacher.at) and Taxi Jäger (tel: +43 6453 8273; www.taxi-jaeger.at). The journey time to the city is around 15 to 20 minutes. Fares vary according to the provider.

Terminal facilities

Money:

There is a bank in the Terminal 1 as well as various ATMs at Salzburg Airport.

Food:

Salzburg Airport has an excellent selection of cafés, bars and restaurants. If you have time then pay a visit to Hangar-7 (www.hangar-7.com), a contemporary structure at Terminal 2 that is synonymous with high-end restaurants and bars. Ikarus is perhaps its most famous restaurant and plays host to a guest chef every month.

Passengers departing from Terminal 1 have two restaurants to choose from, plus a café on the upper level with panoramic views across the airport.  

Shopping:

A shopping concourse takes up a large portion of the departure area of Terminal 1 with specialist shops selling gifts, jewellery, accessories, clothing, newspapers, tobacco goods, souvenirs, books, games, snacks and much more. A duty-free shop (for passengers leaving the EU) and souvenir shop are available in the Terminal 1 departure lounge. There is also a duty-free outlet in Terminal 2.

Luggage:

Salzburg Airport Services are responsible for lost and found property in the terminals and have a counter in the Terminal 1 arrivals hall (tel: +43 662 858 0259). For items left on aircrafts, contact the relevant airline. Baggage storage is available from the left-luggage desk in the public area of Terminal 1, near the check-in desks.

Other:

There are baby changing rooms in the general access area and in the transit hall. Children's play areas are located in the Panorama Market Place self-service restaurant on the first floor of Terminal 1 and in the transit hall. Salzburg Airport also has a medical centre (tel: +43 662 858 0144) with a doctor on call. The viewing terrace in Terminal 1 is open free of charge every day.

Airport facilities

Conference and business:

There are currently no conference facilities at Salzburg Airport. However, the nearby Austria Trend Hotel Salzburg West (tel: +43 662 8581; www.austria-trend.at) is just 1km (0.6 miles) from the airport and offers meeting and conference facilities. Limited facilities are also offered by the nearby Airporthotel (tel: +43 662 850 020; www.airporthotel.at).

Communication Facilities:

Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout Salzburg Airport. There is also an on-site post office.

Disabled facilities:

Toilets and washrooms for travellers with disabilities are located in the check-in hall, departure hall and in the restaurant area on the first floor of Terminal 1. Lifts are also available. Wheelchairs should be requested in advance of arrival at the airport.

Parking spaces designated for the disabled are located in the multistorey car park opposite Terminal 1. There are also parking spaces for disabled passengers in the short-stay P1 car park.

Bus 2, which runs between the airport and the railway station, is accessible for wheelchair users.

Car parking:

There are two short-term car parks (P1 and P2) opposite the terminals. A further 1,920 spaces can be found in the long-stay multistorey car park, which is connected to Terminal 1 by a covered walkway.

Car rental:

Car hire companies at Salzburg Airport include: Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt and a number of local operators. Desks for these companies are on the ground floor of the multistorey car park.
