Public Transport
Public transport road:
Bus: The Airport Express Bus SB60 (www.swb-busundbahn.de) runs between Bonn Central Station and the airport (journey time: 11-14 minutes; fare: €2.80). Bus 161 takes passengers to the U-Bahn station at Porz Markt on the outskirts of Cologne. From there take subway line (S-Bahn) 7 to the city centre of Cologne. Coaches: There is a coach terminal (www.koeln-bonn-airport.de/b2b/fernbusterminal.html) next to Terminal 2, from where you can reach regional, domestic and international destinations with bus operators like Eurolines and Flixbus.
Taxi: Taxis to the centre of Cologne or Bonn are available outside Terminals 1 and 2 (journey time: 15 minutes; fares: from €30 to Cologne or from €40 to Bonn).
Public transport rail:
Rail: S-Bahn and Intercity-Express (ICE) trains (tel: +49 180 699 6633; www.bahn.de) run from the airport’s railway station, which is situated directly across Terminals 1 and 2 under a huge glass roof.
S-Bahn trains operate to Cologne Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) and other destinations in the city (journey time: around 15 minutes). ICE trains link to Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Essen, Bochum, Dortmund, Hanover and Berlin, among other destinations.
Terminal facilities
Money:
There is a bank in the departure area B of Terminal 1. ATMs can be found at various points throughout the airport.
Food:
A good selection of restaurants, bars, fast-food outlets, snack bars and cafés are located in both terminals – the majority of options are available in the departures areas. A few snack bars in Terminal 2 are open 24 hours a day.
Shopping:
There are duty-free shops (for non-EU passengers) in both terminals, as well as various specialist retailers. Among the options are fashion boutiques, a book shop, supermarkets and a children’s toy shop.
Luggage:
Lost property offices / Luggage storage facilities (tel: +49 22 0340 3108) are situated in the area D of Terminal 2.
Other:
Terminal 2 houses a travel centre, while Terminal 1 offers observation decks, as well as a pharmacy, a medical and dental suite and massage services.
Airport facilities
Conference and business:
Telephone and fax facilities, computer equipment and catering can be provided on request. The airport’s business lounge is located in the departures area of Terminal 2.
Conference rooms for six to 200 delegates can be hired from Wöllhaf Conference Centre (tel: +49 22 0395 590; www.airport-konferenz.de), on the third floor of Terminal 1.
Additionally, the almost on-site Leonardo Hotel Cologne Airport (tel: +49 2203 56 10; www.leonardo-hotels.de) can provide meeting space.
Communication Facilities:
Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout Cologne Bonn Airport. A post office is located in the book shop Kirschner in the public arrivals area D of Terminal 2, and stamp and phone card machines are situated in the public departures areas B and C of Terminal 1.
Disabled facilities:
Wheelchair-accessible toilets, lifts and telephones are located at various points within the terminals. Disabled travellers are advised to request assistance and/or a wheelchair when booking their flight.
Parking spaces are reserved for disabled passengers on the upper level of car park P1, on level 4 of car park P2, and on level 1 of car park P3; parking is free of charge for those with physical disabilities upon display of a valid blue EU parking permit when leaving the car park.
Car parking:
There are three long-term multistorey car parks (car parks P1, P2 and P3) at Cologne Bonn Airport. P1 is directly in front of Terminal 1. P2, which also offers dedicated parking spaces for women, is situated opposite Terminal 2; while P3 is linked to the terminals via a 24-hour shuttle bus. In addition, the long-term P-Nord car park, which is suitable for large cars and vans, is situated between car parks P2 and P3.
Car rental:
Car hire companies: Avis, Buchbinder, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, and Sixt are represented at Cologne Bonn Airport. Desks for these operators are located in the arrivals areas.
