The airport is directly linked to the main Berlin – Munich Autobahn (A9) and the A14 which links Dresden to Hanover via Magdeburg. From central Leipzig head north on National Route 6 – the airport is clearly signposted. From Halle, take the same road south out of the city.
Transfer between terminals:
The Central Terminal and Terminal B are linked by a walkway.

The airport is located in Germany, approximately 15km (9 miles) northwest of central Leipzig, and a similar distance southeast of Halle.

Public Transport
Public transport road:
Bus:As the train is so quick and convenient, this is the recommended public transport option. The airport does, however, operate a pre-bookable minibus shuttle (tel: +49 372 413 1366; www.fritzsche-shuttle.de), which runs to and from locations within a 45km (30 mile) radius.
Taxi:Taxis are available immediately outside Terminal B. Travel time to Leipzig is approximately 40 minutes, and to Halle a little less. Fares start from around €35.
Public transport rail:
The airport railway station is beneath the terminal. Trains into Leipzig (tel: +49 391 536 310; www.starker-nahverkehr.de) take 20-30 minutes, and the single fare is €4.20. From Halle, journey time is 11 minutes, and the fare is also €4.20. From Leipzig Hauptbahnhof, inter-city services connect to destinations all over Germany and beyond – some long-distance services also stop at the airport.
Terminal facilities
Money:
ATMs are located in Terminal B. There is also automatic money changing machines operating in a number of currencies.
Food:
Several snack bars and other food and drink outlets are located in both Terminal B and the Central Terminal. There is also a bistro restaurant in the check-in area.
Shopping:
Airport shops offer goods ranging from fashion items to books to food products. Duty Free shopping is available for passengers leaving the EU.
Luggage:
Left luggage lockers are available outside Terminal B. The lost and found office (tel: +49 341 224 1631) is on hand to deal with lost property issues. Baggage trolleys are available within the terminal complex.
Other:
Children’s play areas are located in Departures and pastoral care is also offered. Medical assistance can be found both airside and in public areas.
Airport facilities
Conference and business:
Leipzig/Halle Airport has a range of meeting rooms for hire, with capacity for up to 50 people (tel: +49 341 224 2227).
Communication Facilities:
Wi-Fi internet access is not currently available at Leipzig/Halle Airport. Static monitors with internet access are available however, though carry a charge to use. A post office is also available on site.
Disabled facilities:
All areas of the airport are fully accessible, with lifts and disable toilet facilities readily available. Passengers requiring assistance are advised to contact their airline in advance of travel. Designated parking spaces are also provided.
Car parking:
The airport offers around 5,000 parking spaces (tel: +49 341 224 1247), 2,000 of these are in a multistorey block. Short-stay and pick-up/drop-off parking is located outside Terminal B, while a low-cost parking area is about 15 minutes’ walk away (no shuttle bus operates to this lot). There is, however, a free shuttle to and from the regular long-stay car parks.
Car rental:
Car hire desks are situated in Terminal B. Among the car hire companies represented at the airport are Avis, Budget, Caro, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt.
